HMD-SM – Scanning Hot Metal Detector

The Scanning Hot Metal Detector uses a moving state-of-the-art infrared photodetector in front of a robust electronics signal processing package to allow for fast and reliable detection of hot objects in extreme industrial environments. It meets the steel industry’s tough requirements for high repeatability and superior resolution with adjustable gain for low or high-temperature product presence detection. The HMD – SM is available in 10°, 30° or 50° scan angles to accommodate any detection area. This sensor is able to detect product presence with target temperatures as low as 250°C / 482˚F with no upper limit, including most shapes and dimensions of wire rod, bar, strip, steel plate, billet, and slab. Includes a built-in Laser pointer for quick and easy alignment.
